JetBlue's order for 100 ERJ 190s endorsed Embraer's promise that the aircraft will be the highlight of the 100-seater market.

Embraer claims that the ERJ-190 will provide the best balance between comfort, weight and performance and offer lower operating costs. JetBlue is convinced. Its order for 100 aircraft in 2003 effectively secured the launch of the new aircraft but interest is growing. The 100-seat jet is, however, well placed to take advantage of the emergence of new markets in Asia, especially India.

We asked three appraisers to value a 2005 ERJ-190AR, with GE CF34-8E10 engines.

Avitas – bridging the gap

Embraer's new family of large regional aircraft will effectively bridge the gap between the conventional airliner and the new generation of small jets. The Embraer 190AR enters commercial service this year with jetBlue Airways – the largest order holder for the type with 100 on backlog – and the order book had been weak before jetBlue announced its purchase in 2003.
