When Antonio Luiz Pizarro Manso joined airframe manufacturer Embraer in 1995 the Brazilian company was a relatively small producer of turboprops and military jet trainers, hurting from a financial crisis earlier in the decade.
By the time Manso left the position of chief financial officer at the beginning of 2009, the company was established as a leading global jet manufacturer and one of Brazil’s largest exporters. Much of this transformation was due to Manso’s vision and capability.
“He oversaw the emergence of Embraer from a small player to such a success story,” says Greg Lee, managing director, Goldman Sachs, who has worked with Manso on numerous deals. “Not only the plan and vision, he also navigated extremely well the various cycles that have intervened since then.”
