AerCap and Genesis merge in deal worth $8 billion

The merger between AerCap and Genesis Lease will close in the fourth quarter of 2009

After rumours of an acquisition, AerCap and Genesis Lease released a statement today that the two companies will merge. 

 

Genesis Lease, based in Shannon, will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of AerCap and will take on AerCap’s name, said Klaus Heinemann Aercap’s chief executive officer.

 

Genesis shareholders are expected to approve the transaction in the fourth quarter of 2009, making them owners of approximately 29% of the combined company.
