Narrowbodies top charts

"Excellent product," says an investor speaking about Boeing's 737-800. "If only it were a bit cheaper," he jokes. The aircraft type scored fractionally higher than its rival, the A320, in the annual investors poll. Investors commented that the main risk to both the 737-800 and A320 was the launch of a successor or new engine. One investor says: "The re-engining discussion is not helping the A320NG's appeal to investors. However, for the time being - and probably the next five years — they are still the best and most liquid assets around."

Though both are considered out of production, investors say there is value in breaking up 737-600s and the A318s for engines. While one investor comments that interest in the A319 is shifting to the A320,...
